Germ tube test

Description:

One of the most valuable and simple tests for the rapid presumptive identification of C. albicans is the germ tube test .The test is considered presumptive because not all isolates of C.albicans will be germ tube positive and false positives may be obtained, especially with C. Tropicalis, despite well-trained staff. Also, C. dubliniensis is germ tube positive, although most isolates do not form germ tubes in a commercial synthetic germination medium.  It can be used together with other test products flexibly.

Directions:

1.Place a freeze-dried reagent into a sterile tube. Add 0.5ml saline for each colony under test. Or place liquid germ tube reagents into a sterile tube.

2.Pick up the colony under test with a sterile loop and emulsify it in the tube.

3.Incubate at 33 °C to 37 °C for 30minutes to 2 hours( no more than 3hours)

Observe the tube at the interval of some time. The appearance of positive reaction is within 30 minutes to 1 hour.

4.Place bacterium suspension on the slide and detect the structural characteristics of germ reagents under microscope.

Notice:

1.Check the product appearance before use, or else do quality control and discard

2.Only be used once

3．Store at 2-8℃，away from light

4.  Use safely.

5.  Get and store immediately.

6.  Put unspent products back to the packaging bag on request.

7.  After use, productsshould be discarded.
